The nationwide eInvoicing requirement in Germany
For business-to-business (B2B) transactions, the legal requirement took effect on January 1, 2025. Since then, the acceptance of eInvoices that comply with the EN 16931 standard has been mandatory for all German B2B transactions.
Effective January 1, 2027, the shipping requirement applies to companies with a prior-year revenue of more than €800,000.00.
